Shahram Entekhabi (德國柏林 | Berlin, Germany)

Shahram Entekhabi (德國柏林) 出生於伊朗,曾於意大利留學,現居於柏林。Entekhabi同時是藝術家及建築師,曾參與於世界各地舉行的展覽會。他的創作以城市作為背景,反映當中被一撮中產異性戀的男性白人所操控的城市空間的各種面貌,並透過建築、裝置及數碼媒體等媒介作表達。他特別關注被邊緣化、被人們視而不見的個體,他們很多被迫至城市邊陲的貧民區,當中包括外地移民、不同文化的人士,特別是來自中東及少數族裔的社群。他最近的創作更以「顯見」與「視而不見」之間的種種現象作為主要探索的主題。

Shahram Entekhabi (Berlin, Germany) was born in Iran, studied in Italy and now resides and works in Berlin. An artist and architect, his work has been the subject of many exhibitions all over the world. Shahram’s practice is framed within an urban setting and diffuses the idea of the urban space being a reserve for the practice and performance of the white, middle class, hetro-sexual male. He explores these ideas via a variety of performative practices using architecture, installation and digital media. He chooses to highlight individuals who are ordinarily marginalized and made invisible or forced into self-ghettoization from the urban domain, such as migrant communities and their cultures, particularly the communities from the Middle East and its diaspora. The question of visibility and invisibility therefore is a theme he recurrently explores within his practice.

Abhinandita Mathur (印度德里及孟買 | Delhi & Bombay, India)

Abhinandita Mathur (印度德里及孟買) 於印度德里及孟買作攝影及研究工作。現為《Time Out》雜誌擔任攝影記者。同時,她正籌備一本新的攝影雜誌,並計劃於2008年5月開始發刊。Mathur以人類學的角度探討不同的主題,從而展現對人文的關注。於2006年,她受Global Lives Project委約製作有關納爾默達的攝影文章,展示這個貧困部落的生活。作品其後獲加爾各答的印度管理學院(CSDS) 頒予「獨立研究獎學金」,讓她進行另一個名為《My Building and the Sheher》(www.mybuildingsociety.net)的攝影及研究計劃。Mathur的研究及作品展示了小數社群的聲音,當中包括紀錄了跨國性工作者爭取反歧視的聯合行動。她又關注婦女在城市生活的安全問題、性工作者及兒童在孟買紅燈區的生活、與及社會地位低下層兒童的遊樂權利等等。

Abhinandita Mathur (Delhi & Bombay, India) is a photographer and researcher working between Delhi and Bombay, India. Presently a photo-journalist with Time Out Delhi Magazine, she is also working to set up and start a photography journal by May 2008. Mathur's works have a strong anthropological approach and demonstrate a humane concern. In 2006, she was commissioned by Global Lives Project to do a photographic essay on life in the submerged tribal villages in the Narmada Valley. She was awarded by Centre for Study in Culture and Society - SARAI (CSDS) the Independent Research Fellowship to work on Photography and Research project titled My Building and the Sheher where she collaborated with her mother to map out the journey of an old Delhi community (that she belongs to) to there new suburban way of life (www.mybuildingsociety.net). As a self-initiated project, she documented a cross-country rally of sex workers in partition of decriminalization of sex work. She also explored women's relationship with the city of Bombay. Her previous NGO jobs include working for issues like sex work, gender, child's right to play.

Bundith Phunsombatlert (泰國曼谷 | Bangkok, Thailand)

Bundith Phunsombatlert (泰國曼谷) 以絲網印刷技術發展一系列的立體及裝置作品,隨後再由手製印藝至雕塑及電子互動裝置。他對泰國在全球化下社會、經濟及政治議題的關注,成為創作與週遭環境的基礎,作品往往邀請觀眾的參與。Phunsombatlert於曼谷Silpakorn大學取得藝術學士及平面藝術(印藝)碩士文憑,現為曼谷大學藝術及應用藝術學院的客席講師。他在新一代泰國藝術家中備受注目,曾獲2001-2002年度Pollock-Krasner獎、2004年度聯合國教科文數碼藝術獎第二名、及2007年度亞洲文化協會獎助金。

Bundith Phunsombatlert (Bangkok, Thailand) started his art career with printmaking processes in developing three-dimensional objects. He then turned to work with diverse media from hand-made print-makings and multiple sculptures to interactive installations where occasional computerized monitorings are used. The contents of his art works mostly deal with observations of social, economic, and political situations in Thailand which are both different from and related to many happenings in the contemporary world of globalization. He then uses them as a form of art with his eagerness to gain aesthetic experience of learning from the environment. His works usually invite the audience to participate so as to get “the feel and experience” from the works. Phunsombatlert earned both his B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees in graphic arts (printmaking) at Silpakorn University, Bangkok. He is a prolific artist who is considered to be a rising star among the new generation of Thai artists. Among his selected awards and fellowships are Pollock-Krasner Grant in 2001-2002, Second Prize Unesco Digital Art Award 2004, and Asia Cultural Council Fellow 2007.


Michael Townsend (美國紐約 | New York, USA)

Michael Townsend (美國紐約) 酷愛在建築物牆上繪畫。在過去十八年間,他一直探索膠紙畫作為藝術媒介,以及可以怎樣改變社群。他對重塑、玩味公共及私人空間的藩籬的關注,成為在被遺忘的公共空間中的雕塑裝置。最近他與一群藝術家在一個商場內建立一個秘密的居住空間達四年之久。作為一個公共藝術創作人,Townsend希望令更多人可以接觸及参與藝術。他的創作往往通過合作的過程,例如在學校、醫院、社區中心及精神病康復中心的膠紙藝術。此外,他又以互聯網作媒介,特別是有關世貿中心襲擊罹難者的電子紀念碑,紀錄了四年間於紐約創作相關的膠紙藝術。Townsend在羅德島設計學院取得印藝學士文憑及藝術教育碩士文憑。

Michael Townsend (New York, USA) likes to draw on buildings. A lot. For the past 18 years, he has dedicated his life to exploring the medium of tape for the purposes of drawing and empowering people to transform the worlds around them. This love of redefining and playing with the boundaries between public and private space has manifested itself in non-tape related sculpture installations in forgotten spaces. Most recently he worked with a group of artists to build a fully-furnished, secret apartment, inside a local shopping mall, which they occupied for four years. His works as a public artist are strongly rooted in his desires to make art accessible and participatory. He dedicates his time as a professional artist creating collaborative, Tape Art works in schools, hospitals, prisons, community centers and mental health facilities. As an extension of making his works publicly accessible, he has adopted the Internet as an extension of his work - most notably through the creation of a digital memorial documenting Tape Art drawings that were made over five years in dedication to all those who list their lives at the World Trade Center. Michael holds a B.A. in Printmaking and an M.A. in Art Education, both from the Rhode Island School of Design.

鄭怡敏+張嘉莉 | Cheng Yee-man + Clara Cheung

鄭怡敏+張嘉莉是一個二人藝術組合,他們的創作範疇非常廣泛,有從平面到行為藝術。他們其中的重要作品包括在2004年於香港回歸大遊行進行訂婚,重疊了公共與私人領域中的儀式。二人均是藝術團體二二六工程的成員 (鄭怡敏為團體會長) 及C & G藝術單位創辦人。鄭怡敏於2002年獲RMIT University純藝術(素描)學士學位,並於2007年獲香港中文大學比較及公共歷史碩士學位。2002至2007年,於牛棚藝術村藝術公社任行政及策劃工作。張嘉莉2002年畢業於美國Rhodes College,獲純藝術和電腦科學學士學位,及後於2003年獲香港中文大學教育文憑,主修藝術教育。2007年獲嶺南大學文化研究碩士學位。近期,以行為藝術為主要創作媒介,部分作品為澳門藝術博物館收藏。

Cheng Yee-man (Gum) + Clara Cheung are an artist duo who work with a wide range of medium, from two-dimensional to performance art. One of their renowned works is staging a fully dressed wedding engagement during a massive demonstration in 2004, blending the visual rituals from public and private spheres. Both are members of a Hong Kong non-profit art group, Project226 (Cheng serves as chairman) and founders of C & G Artpartment. Cheng Yee-man graduated with distinction of Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) in Drawing, at RMIT University in 2002. In 2007, Gum received M.A. in Comparative and Public History from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. From 2002 to 2007, he has been the manager and curator in a Hong Kong renowned art body, Artist Commune, to plan and curate art activities. Cheung Clara graduated at Rhodes College (TN, USA) with majors in Fine Art and Computer Science in 2002, Clara Cheung studied for the Postgraduate Diploma in Education at the Chinese University of Hong Kong afterwards, and received a master degree of Cultural Studies at Lingnan University. Her works were collected by Macau Art Museum and she now mainly focuses at exploring the media of performance art.


羅文樂 | Law Man-lok

羅文樂是概念藝術家,01年於香港中文大學藝術系獲取文學士,07年於英國倫敦大學金匠學院完成藝術碩士課程,曾當香港電台電視節目《4維賣藝》主持。他的作品著重知性與幻想的結合,並擅長以身邊周遭環境和時物作創作的起始點。近來他的作品則表達了他對全球單一化、商業化的城市發展感到焦躁和恐懼。近年展覽包括:《藝術回應拾肆個QK多人展》(2007,香港)、《時往時復》 (2007,香港)、《Rag and Bone Fine Art Exhibition》 (2006,英國倫敦)及《YCCA - Yong Chinese Contemporary Art》 (2005,奧地利HangART-7)等。2007年,羅氏作品「那位中國人如是說」獲London International Creative Competition 列入候選名單。(http://licc.us/artists/Winners2008Index.html)。同年,他亦於香港嶺南大學哲學系視覺文化課程作駐場藝術家,組織一系列藝術講座及工作坊,名為《Out of institution》。

Law Man-lok is a conceptual artist. Law obtained the BA (Hon) from the Fine Arts Department of the Chinese university of Hong Kong and in 2007, he graduated from the MFA course in Goldsmiths College, University of London. He was the anchor of RTHK TV programme Cultural Magazine. His works emphasize on the synergy of imagination and criticality. Law used to begin with the matters around to make a piece, and recently he showed his concern on the dominant of commercialization in city development. His works were featured in Art responds to 14 QKs (2007, HK), Time After Time (2007, HK), Rag and Bone Fine Art Exhibition (2006, London, UK) and YCCA - Yong Chinese Contemporary Art (2005, HangART-7, Austria). In 2007, his work “Thus the Chinese spake” was shortlisted by London International Creative Competition (http://licc.us/artists/Winners2008Index.html ). Also in 2007, Law was an artist-in-residence at Lingnan University Visual Studies Programme of Department of Philosophy, he organized a series of talks and workshops named “Out of institution”.


徐世琪 | Angela Su

徐世琪生於香港,1990 年畢業於加拿大多倫多大學科學系,其後在安大略省藝術學院修讀繪畫。2003年於香港歌德學院舉行首次個人展覽《De Humani Corporis Fabrica》,一年後於藝穗會舉行了一個討論SARS的展覽《微暴》。徐世琪於2005年參與了由Pamela Kember策劃的漢雅軒聯展《著迷》,展示了作品「Senninbari」﹙千人針﹚。她於2006年參與了以「藝術與癒療」為主題的第二屆新加坡藝穗節,及於2007年參與了由張頌仁和高士明策劃的上海當代藝術館聯展《地軸轉移》。

Angela Su received a degree in bio-chemistry in Canada before pursuing visual arts. By adopting existing scientific belief systems, Angela creates works that prompt us to contemplate our own being, our inscription in space and in time. Her two series of works, De Humani Corporis Fabrica (2003) and Paracelsus.Garden (2007), consist of a series of biological drawings that combine the precision of scientific sketches with a mythical sense of aesthetic to challenge our position and perception of the ecological and evolutionary system. In 2005, Angela re-created the Senninbari, a waistband commonly made during the Sino-Japanese War by Japanese women as amulets for their husbands to wear in battle. The project was a personal engagement with the contradictions and complexities of the Sino-Japanese relations, as well as a private examination on our current engagement with the rewriting of history, atonement, and the concerns of the acts of forgetting. In 2007, Angela also created a series of maps that serves as a commentary on the shifting dynamic between China and Hong Kong. Similar to her biological drawings, these maps are situated at the junction of exact science and art, allowing space for imagination and the renegotiation of the lived space of experience.


謝柏齊 | Tse Pak-chai

謝柏齊於2003年獲香港理工大學應用社會科學系頒授哲學碩士學位。現職攝影師,徘徊於社會行動分子和社會運動觀察者之間。他記錄了多個本地示威遊行,於2007年抗議皇后碼頭清拆的示威行動中,展出了市民在皇后碼頭的日常活動的紀實攝影。作品於《出嚟行!--七人遊行攝影展》(2006)中展出及見於多本有關市區重建和爭取居留權的書籍。自2002年共同創辦策劃團體「民間博物館計劃」,研究及策劃《示威遊∕尤物》 (2002)、《一街博物館--利東街》(2005)、《小作業大智慧──訪尋深水埗手工業者》(2007)。

Tse Pak-chai was awarded with a MPhil degree from the Applied Social Science Department of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2003. He is a photographer, and meanders between a social activist and an observer of social movements. He has documented widely protests in Hong Kong, and has staged a documentary exhibition on the citizens’ activities in Queen’s Pier in 2007, as part of the protest against the demolition of the Pier. His work was included in Walk, Don’t Run: Demonstration Photography by 7 Artists (2006) and various publications related to urban regeneration and right to abode in Hong Kong. As a member of the curatorial collective Community Museum Project, which he co-founded in 2002, Tse researched and curated projects such as Objects of Demonstration (2002), Street as Museum: Lee Tung Street (2005), and In Search of Marginalized Wisdom: Sham Shui Po Craftspeople (2007).

Eve Armstrong (紐西蘭奧克蘭 | Auckland, New Zealand)

Eve Armstrong (紐西蘭奧克蘭) 從事概念藝術創作,她的作品著重物質的功能性、轉化及流動性,探討物件本身的形態、相互的關係及與環境的關連。她的作品主要利用城市中的剩餘物資,以不同方法伸延、添加,從中轉化它們的物理性及功能,展現它們的美感及有趣的形態。她更以巧妙運用紙皮箱、膠紙等廢棄物料以聞名。Armstrong於1978年出生於紐西蘭的上哈特,2003年畢業於紐西蘭奧克蘭大學藝術系,並於2006年獲紐西蘭藝術基金頒發新進藝術家獎。她近期曾參與計劃包括:於奧克蘭Artspace的個展(2005至2006年)、於威靈頓Enjoy Public Art Gallery 的藝術家留駐計劃 (2006年)、於紐西蘭基督城的SCAPE舉辦的雙年展 (2006年)及韓國釜山雙年展 (2006年)等。

Eve Armstrong (Auckland, New Zealand) is a conceptual artist whose work emphasizes transactional and functional processes. Armstrong’s practice tends to fall uneasily between the formal, the relational and the environmental. Her work is of the unwanted surpluses of urban environments, but it seems to have no position on that, nor does it appear to offer any solutions. Instead, Armstrong’s focus is on taking an otherwise unwanted object or resource and adapting it – extending or adding to its physical as well as formal functionality. Her signature materials - flattened cardboard, packing tape, and disowned property - recur not only for their physical and aesthetic functions, but for their ready availability and subsequent ability to sink back into the world. Eve Armstrong was born in Upper Hutt, New Zealand in 1978. Armstrong graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts in 2003, and in 2006 was an inaugural recipient of the Arts Foundation of New Zealand New Generation Award. Recent projects have included a solo show at Artspace, Auckland, 2005-2006; Artist residency at Enjoy Public Art Gallery, Wellington, 2006; and solo projects within Biennials in 2006 at SCAPE, Christchurch, New Zealand and Busan, Korea.


Michelle Brand (英國曼徹斯特 | Manchester, UK)

Michelle Brand (英國曼徹斯特) 的設計取材自生態環境。她的創作靈感來自全不起眼的日常物品,以作品直接回應種種環境問題。她對可循環的廢料的管理及應用的興趣,使她成為專門發展再生物料的設計師,讓廢棄物料可以得到一次改頭換面,重新成為有用物品的機會。Brand支持「慢設計」的理念,這正正與現今急速的消費文化背道而馳。在得到多個機構協助下,她得以收集本地的塑膠廢物,運用到設計上。她的設計品包括燈罩、窗簾、屏風、室內LED裝飾燈等。Brand的多項獲獎設計曾於國內及世界各地展出,並獲委約製作。最近,更獲「英國女性發明及改革家獎2007」頒予「環境組金獎」,及成為HauteGREEN紐約設計週編輯之選。

Michelle Brand (Manchester, UK) is an eco designer maker based in Manchester, UK. Her work is in direct response to environmental problems and inspiration evolves from the unseen beauty of everyday objects. On one level her designs promote the aesthetic life of mass produced objects and give them a second use but it is her designer maker practice which feeds her interest in future sustainable waste management systems and service design. Michelle supports the philosophy of slow design, which is the counter balance for today’s fast consumer society. She sustains her practice through her own local plastic collection round and has been supported by various institutions. Her product range consists of lampshades, window screens, room dividers decorative LED indoor lights and cards. Michelle’s award winning designs have been exhibited and commissioned Nationally and Internationally. Recently she has received the Gold Award in the Environmental section of British Female Inventors and Innovators Awards 2007 and won editors’ choice at HauteGREEN New York Design Week.

Sandra Nakamura (祕魯利瑪 | Lima, Peru)

Sandra Nakamura (祕魯利瑪) 畢業於聖地牙哥的加州大學視覺藝術學系,現正於德國魏瑪包豪斯大學修讀碩士課程。Nakamura的創作聯繫日常生活的物料及處境,以藝術介入及思考公共空間。她的作品主要透過收集、聚積、分發不同的物件以成。在作品《在世界某角落的一平方米》(2006年),發掘財產的意義與法制、公共住屋、房產投機及中產化房屋發展之間的關係。她將十五萬個一角的錢幣 (約一千五百歐元) 鋪於展覽場地內的一個三十五平方米的地面上,亦即西班牙Huesca市內法定最小的住屋面積。另外,她又以社會介入方式,將約為二十八的歐元的多個一角的錢幣,於市中心行人道上鋪滿一個面積約一平方米大的地方,讓人們自由撿取,象徵她從市民手中買下土地。

Sandra Nakamura (Lima, Peru) earned a BA degree in Visual Arts from the University of California, San Diego and is now an MFA candidate at the Bauhaus Universität Weimar, Germany. Working with everyday materials and situations, Nakamura creates temporary interventions, many of a participatory nature, which explore the way we relate to our surroundings. A series of interrelated projects, 1m2 in Some Corner of The World (ongoing since 2006), reflects on the meaning -both real and symbolic- of property in relation to affordable housing, real estate speculation, urban gentrification, and the increasing privatization of public space. Several announcements on regional newspapers were followed by an intervention where 1-cent coins were used to cover 1m2 of a pedestrian walkway. The action was meant as a public offering in which the symbolic purchase of such piece of land would take place. Later, the equivalent of 1,500 euros in 1-cent coins were placed on the floor of an exhibition space, covering 35m2 -by law the smallest area for an apartment in the city of Huesca, Spain. Developed while in residence at ARTIUM –the Basque Centre-Museum for Contemporary Art and the Centro Cultural del Matadero, the project’s ultimate goal is for the artist to become the rightful owner of 1m2 of land.

Alwin Reamillo (西澳洲Fremantle | Fremantle, Western Australia)

Alwin Reamillo (西澳洲Fremantle) 出生於菲律賓馬尼拉,作品跨媒介,包括混合媒介繪畫、雕塑、裝置及表演。近年多從事合作計劃,與個人或社群共同發展作品,過程當中塑揑社會關係,檢視全球化及文化身份流散的議題。Reamillo採用菲律賓的bayanihan群體合作方法於其創作中,最近他與菲律賓前Javincello公司(已結業)的鋼琴製作工匠復修一座三角鋼琴,《Mang Emo + Mag-hirro Grand Piano Project》以兩個公開展覽及表演,連結了工匠、藝術家、音樂家、社群及公共機構。

Alwin Reamillo (Fremantle, Western Australia) was born in Manila, Philippines. A cross-media artist, he works in mixed media painting, sculpture, installation and performance. His work in recent years involved various collaborative projects, which often incorporate relational/social processes, developed with individuals and communities that often examine the intertwined themes of globalization, cultural diaspora and migration. Reamillo often adapts and translates the Filipino practice of bayanihan or group work and has recently been involved the restorative construction of an art case upright and grand piano in collaboration with a team of Filipino piano makers from the now defunct Javincello & Co., makers of Wittemberg Pianos in Manila. The Mang Emo + Mag-himo Grand Piano Project culminated in two public exhibitions with piano performances in Manila and Fremantle, facilitating cross-cultural links between craftsmen, artists, musicians, communities and institutions across boundaries.

陳育強 | Chan Yuk-keung

陳育強先後在香港中文大學及美國鶴溪藝術學院完成他的藝術訓練,現為香港中文大學藝術系副教授。自1983年起陳氏曾參與超過七十次本港及海外的展覽,遍及美國、德國、澳洲、義大利、紐西蘭、日本、韓國、中國大陸和台灣。其中包括:《第五十一屆威尼斯雙年展》、《澳洲之第二屆亞太當代藝術三年展》、紐西蘭之《融 —— 香港及紐西蘭藝術家交換計劃》、東京和多利藝術館之《中國現代藝術》及德國漢諾威《世界博覽藝術展》。2003年,陳氏在香港藝術中心舉行了他第三次個人作品展及在Para / Site藝術空間舉行了回顧展。近年,他的興趣擴展到公共藝術並完成了數件作品。陳氏作品屢獲獎項,包括「公眾藝術比賽首獎」(大埔中央公園)、1999年「德國漢諾威世界博覽會藝術比賽」第二名,亦為1999、2000及2003年香港藝術年鑑編輯。

Chan Yuk-keung, Kurt had received his art education in The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan, U.S.A. He is now the Associate Professor of Department of Fine Arts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Since 1983, Kurt has participated in over 70 local and overseas art exhibitions which included the 51st Venice Biennale in Italy, the 2nd Asia Pacific Triennial in Australia, Contemporary Chinese Art organized by Watarium in Tokyo; World Expo Art Exhibition in Hanover. In 2003, Kurt was invited to organize his 3rd solo exhibition in Hong Kong Art Centre as well as a retrospective exhibition in Para/Site Art Space. In the recent years, his interest has extended to public art and hence finished a few projects. Kurt received the first prize in Hong Kong Public Art Exhibition (Taipo Central Park), the 1st runner-up in World Expo Art Competition in Hanover in 1999. He was also the co-editor of the Kong Kong Visual Art Yearbook 1999, 2000 and 2003.

朱海山是香港註冊建築師,從事建築及城市設計與研究。現為香港珠海學院建築系系主任、副教授及香港大學建築系兼任助理教授。朱氏為香港大學建築研究榮譽文學士及建築學優等碩士,並以William Kinne Fellow取得美國哥倫比亞大學建築與城市設計碩士。他曾獲選為「香港青年建築師」,「20位21世紀香港新晉建築師」等,又曾以國際扶輪社大使學者身分次代表香港負芨及考察紐約;他亦曾獲亞洲文化協會授予獎學金到美國進行藝術,建築及文化交流,及香港置地獎學金到歐洲進行古蹟保育研究。朱氏相信「非正規建築物」是構成亞洲文化的重要部份。他尤其對香港多樣性的城市景觀,及規劃與自我衍生並存的都市矛盾感興趣。他亦認為建築藝術應「與民同樂」,因此期望通過是次4x4 工作坊,重新發現深水埗區的原創性,並透過藝術創造的過程,使公眾認知及共享這些埋藏了民間瑰寶。

Paul Chu is a Hong Kong Registered Architect and has been combining architecture and urbanism research with design. He is currently Head and Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture of Chu Hai College, and Adjunct Assistant Professor in the University of Hong Kong (HKU). Being a graduate of HKU (B.A. (Architecture Studies) (Hons) and M.Architecture (Distinction)), Chu obtained M.Science (Architecture and Urban Design) at Columbia University, US where he was made William Kinne Fellow. He was awarded “Hong Kong Young Architect Award”, “20 for 21st Century Emerging Hong Kong Architects”, and selected by Rotary International as a “Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar” representing Hong Kong to study and interflow in New York City. He was a grantee of Asian Cultural Council for art, architecture and culture interflow in US, and a grantee of Hongkong Land for heritage conservation study in Europe. Chu believes that “informal architecture” forms an important basis of Asian culture. He was intrigued by the diversity of Hong Kong cityscape, and the dilemma of the co-existence of both planned and spontaneous urbanism. While believing in “architecture for everybody”, he is expecting to rediscover the originalities of Sham Shui Po in this 4X4 Workshop, and hoping to generate an attentive circus process via art as a media for public’s knowledge and enjoyment of the hidden treasures regardless of one’s race, age, gender and social class.


謝淑婷 | Sara Tse

謝淑婷以泥釉創作陶瓷裝置,作品精奇,並在視覺上令人難而忘懷。她挑戰一般瓷器品,從而比對出香港「即棄式」的潮流文化,顯示從個人到文化的關懷。謝淑婷畢業於香港中文大學文學士學位,主修藝術系,現為澳洲皇家墨爾本理工大學藝術 (陶藝) 博士研究生。她的作品於香港、日本及美國的展覽被多次展出,並曾舉行數個個人展覽,2003年更成為香港藝術雙年展獲獎藝術家,於2006年獲法國文化協會頒發藝術家獎。

Sara Tse utilizes the slip method in ceramics to create installations of fragile and visually haunting objects. They challenge the reverence for objects made from porcelain, contrasting it with the throwaway culture of fashion and trends in Hong Kong. What once seems to be personal affect now acquires an aura of cultural artefact. Tse graduated in 1997 from Fine Arts Department of Chinese University of Hong Kong with a bachelor degree, and is now a doctoral candidate of Fine Arts of Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University, Australia. She has exhibited widely in Hong Kong, Japan and USA and has held several solo shows. She was an award winner for the Hong Kong Art Biennial Exhibition in 2003 and receiver of Fond Des Artistes grant from Alliance Francaise in 2006.


王浩然 | Adrian Wong

王浩然生於美國芝加哥,於美國長大,現回港發展。他的作品把心理學與藝術混合,探討恐懼心理學與兒童心理學發展。王浩然於美國史丹佛大學獲得心理學與藝術學士學位及藝術歷史學士學位,並於2007年在美國耶魯大學獲藝術實習藝術碩士學位。2007年舉行他首個展覽《四》,以幽默手法,展示了中國傳統習俗的忌諱,及社會中被假設的風險。他與Samantha Culp最近組成了Embassy Projects實驗工作室,借用學院派的研究方法,Adrian及Samantha旨在探找一種「超文化」的體驗。他倆形容自己為外交官,游走於異地現實與夢想之間。王浩然現於香港藝術學院任教授雕刻,並於本地及海外活躍策劃多項展覽。

Adrian Wong was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, USA, and is now based in Hong Kong. Originally trained in research psychology (receiving a Master’s degree from Stanford University in 2003), he began making and exhibiting work in San Francisco while concurrently conducting experiments on young children. He continued his post-graduate studies at Yale University, where he received an M.F.A. in 2005. His first solo exhibition in Hong Kong, A Fear Is This, offered a darkly humorous view into the taboos of Chinese custom and perceived risks of urban living. Together with Samantha Culp, he formed Embassy Projects in 2006, which uses a research-based methodology to explore “trans-cultural” experiences. They see themselves as “agitators, architects, and ultimately, diplomats between the foreign lands of dreams and reality, self and other, childhood and everything that comes after.” Presently, Adrian is teaching sculpture at the Hong Kong Art School and preparing for various exhibitions in Hong Kong and abroad.
